2019 New Year Message
2019.01.01
We expect medical AI development to advance further in 2019, with some technologies entering practical use soon. We continue collaborations begun last year on endoscopic diagnosis and chest image interpretation. We also want to realise our AI medical record concept: structuring medical record text and radiology findings and analysing them together with tests, clinical information and literature to support appropriate diagnosis and treatment choices. Health screening PHRs are scheduled to launch this year, bringing the next generation of hospital systems into view.
As we reach our tenth anniversary, we have largely achieved our original goals of standardising electronic medical records and codes. We want the next decade to centre on the AI medical record concept so patients can receive the best care. To support access anytime, anywhere and for everyone, we aim to introduce remote care for islands this year. To provide compassionate and reassuring care, we also want to establish reliable communication of radiology findings and test results.
Specifically, our plans include:
- Establishing an AI team
- Practical collaborative AI research with other companies
- Standardising health screening data and launching personal health screening records (PHRs)
- Developing and selling solutions outside the Group
- Updating hospital electronic medical records and strengthening networks
- Improving Group communication and implementing remote care support
- Stronger implementation, maintenance and infrastructure
- In addition to strengthening our organisation for growing website demand,
- Extending PACS backups to more hospitals
- Enhancing BI tools for hospital management
- Expanding HR/payroll functions
We also plan to expand our office as we pursue these initiatives.
The future has already begun. We cannot survive without accepting changes in our environment, and I believe remaining at the forefront is essential to our company's future. All staff will work together to contribute to healthcare transformation, expanding from the Group to external customers and from Japan to the world. We appreciate your continued guidance.
