2025.01.01

Happy New Year. I hope you have welcomed the year in good health. In 2024, the environment surrounding healthcare IT changed significantly, bringing its potential and challenges into sharper focus. Advances in medicine and IT have been remarkable. AI is beginning to improve diagnosis and treatment, while security problems such as ransomware remain major barriers to IT adoption in healthcare.

Against this background, we at Tokushukai Information System, Inc. continued in 2024 to improve the healthcare environment using AI, cloud technology, IoT and other advanced tools. Our mission is to bring medicine and IT closer together and provide high-quality care to everyone. We achieved tangible results, including expanded functions in the HOSPA patient application and wider use of the Chatis communication tool.

We also advanced a wide range of projects, including improved maintenance and infrastructure for in-house systems, web-based communications, and electronic medical record implementation and consulting outside the Group. I believe these efforts helped improve efficiency and reduce the burden on healthcare professionals.

In 2025, we will build on these achievements and continue taking on new challenges to realise more of healthcare IT's potential. In particular, we plan to actively incorporate the healthcare-specific LLM we began developing late last year into our services, improving both efficiency and care quality. Our priorities are as follows.

Priorities for FY2025

  1. Promote healthcare-specific LLMs: We will introduce the LLM under development into HOSPA questionnaires and Chatis enquiry support to improve convenience and efficiency for patients and healthcare professionals. We will also develop new medical services using LLMs.
  2. Develop HOSPA: We will improve the interface and add functions to enrich the patient experience, particularly deferred payment and online integration, aiming to improve access regardless of place or time.
  3. Strengthen Group-wide IT infrastructure: We will complete the transition to new pharmaceutical and supply management systems and BI tools to support data-informed decisions. We will also promote our workflow and asset management systems to improve clinical operations.
  4. Strengthen security: We will reinforce protection against ransomware and other threats to safeguard patient information and healthcare systems, including remote departmental-system backups and offline backup generations.
  5. Strengthen external collaboration: We will actively pursue health and labour sciences research with PMDA and HAIP and joint research with pharmaceutical companies. We will expand electronic medical record implementation and consulting outside the Group and promote our own products.
  6. Advance work style reform: We will use generative AI and other technologies to automate work and improve efficiency, reducing the burden on healthcare professionals and supporting higher-quality services.
  7. Strengthen our organisation: We will build a flexible structure and an environment in which every employee can grow, including developing specialists in healthcare-specific LLMs.
  8. Strengthen communications: We will actively share our work through our website and social media, increase awareness and promote collaboration with healthcare providers.

I am confident that we can fulfil our mission if every employee understands their role and commits fully to achieving these goals.
I sincerely wish you all a wonderful year.
